Inspired by The Amazing Race, the EmergyRace is a unique adventure where teams of two race on foot across a designated area of the City of Erie, tackling fun and interactive challenges at various checkpoints hosted by local businesses and community partners. It’s teamwork, fun, and purpose—all rolled into one unforgettable day.

EmergyRace was created in 2023 to honor Kyle Swain, a beloved former EmergyCare EMT and Communications Center Dispatcher. Kyle bravely followed his dream to serve in the U.S. Army but tragically passed away during basic training due to a heat related illness. With the help of Kyle’s family and friends, we carry forward his legacy through this exciting, purpose-driven event.

By joining the EmergyRace, participants become part of something bigger—strengthening community health and safety, honoring Kyle Swain’s legacy, and helping fund EMS training and life-saving equipment that prepares our crews to answer the call when every second matters.

This is a free, family-friendly event great for people of all ages.

Meet our non-releasable ambassador wildlife, including hawk, owls, falcons, and presented “on the glove” by handlers, and opossum, turtle, and snake for the public to view up close and personal.

Participants must use roadside parking, which may require a several-minute walk to the event. Limited handicapped parking will be available. Please be aware that our facility includes uneven terrain, stairs, and other areas that may be difficult to navigate with a stroller or wheelchair.

Learn from scratch or brush up your skills with ECPL's computer classes! Designed to help someone do the basics of spreadsheets with Microsoft Excel: cells, formulas, titles, borders, formatting, charts, graphs, and spreadsheet navigation, among other topics.

Pre-registration for computer classes is required. Each class costs $5.00 and pre-registration must be paid in advance of the class date. The library can only accept cash or check and payment is made at the Information Desk at the Blasco Library. Payment is non-refundable.

These classes are take place in-person at the Blasco Library's second floor Room 219. Please arrived to class on time.

Step into a world of gods, heroes, monsters, and magic! The Teen The Mythology Guild is the perfect place for mythology enthusiasts to connect, create, and have fun. Each meeting dives into fascinating myths from around the world; Greek, Norse, Egyptian, Japanese, and beyond! All through lively discussions, creative crafts, and epic games.

In this session: Explore the stories of the The Heavenly Maiden and the Woodcutter and The Legend of the Green Frog. Make a tiny frog faux terrarium to take home. Learn about the folk art and rituals that inspired K-Pop Demon Hunters.

For teens ages 13-18. No registration required. This event is run by local teens from Classic Compass.

Make your own fantastical faux stained-glass frame. You will choose a premade design that was made on the Idea Lab’s Cricut Maker. Choose from a spooky Halloween design or a fantasy creature design. Use paint to give it a stained-glass appearance.

Free. All Ages. Kids must be accompanied by an adult. One craft per person. Project available while supplies last. If you think you'll need assistance with this project, please bring someone to help you.

Make a fun and festive spiderweb wreath! Twist, turn, tangle, and spin your own spider web using yarn and colorful ribbons. Make decorative spider web like no one has seen before.We'll cover how to make braids, pompoms, and tassels, but the details are up to you!

Free. Registration required. Ages 12 and up. The class will take place in the Idea Lab's Community Classroom. Children under 15 must be supervised by a guardian. If you think that you will need extra assistance to complete this project, please bring a support person to help you with this class.

Join the Idea Lab staff to learn how to use the Idea Lab’s Roland Print and Cut machine to print your own stickers!

This machine inks onto a vinyl sticker surface and cuts a line to make your design into a sticker. We'll teach you how to convert files to the proper format and add cut lines to your design. After you take this class, you will be certified to use this machine during the Idea Labs open hours.

Join the Teen Board Game Club to try out For the Queen. Your Grace is primed for her voyage, and has chosen you to accompany her! What will you learn about her (and yourself) along the way? Ultimately, answer the final question: When your queen is attacked, do you defend her? This is a collaborative storytelling game that invites you to tell a dramatic tale of the queen and her companions.

Gather, steal, swap, and protect to win the game Funky Fungi. Make a tiny mushroom garden using wooden and resin mushrooms. For teens ages 13-18. No registration required.
